***Media Advisory*** Senate Republicans to Force Vote to Repeal Unfair Income-Based Utility Fee

As Legislative Democrats join the conversation on the state’s unfair income-based utility fee scheme, California Senate Republicans once again plan to force a full Senate Vote to repeal the bad policy. California families already pay electricity rates twice the national average, and raising electricity bills will not make the cost of living more affordable for families. Senator Shannon Grove (R-Bakersfield) will offer the amendment along with remarks on the issue.

In a pre-reaction to Legislative Action on this topic, Senate Minority Leader Brian W. Jones (R-San Diego) commented, “Welcome to the party, Legislative Democrats. Months ago, California Senate Republicans called for the repeal of AB 205 (which allows for income-based electricity charges). Your nice letter calls out the self-serving proposals for big utilities, but what about admitting you and the rest of the Sacramento Democrat legislators were wrong for even supporting AB 205 to begin with? You’ll have a chance later this morning to support the repeal of AB 205 on the Senate Floor – time to put your money where your mouth is."
