Senator Roger Niello (R-Fair Oaks), the Vice Chair of the Senate Budget Committee, released the following statement in response to Governor Newsom’s and Capitol Democrats’ deal for a 2023-2024 state budget:
“Twelve days ago, we passed a budget to meet a constitutional deadline and yet the majority party was still working out the agreement for what the budget would ultimately contain. Today, we amended that bill and filled it with spending that is simply unsustainable.
“It is troubling that Democratic legislators fail to prioritize core issues and continue to expand funding programs the state can’t afford.”
