SACRAMENTO – Senate Republican Leader Shannon Grove (R-Bakersfield) issued the following statement after discussion of a water tax proposal failed to come to fruition yesterday in the Senate Budget Committee.
“The decision to kill the water tax is a victory for Senate Republicans. My colleagues and I stand united against any additional proposals that tax hardworking Californians. Sacramento Democrats already tax our air, gasoline, energy, and they were prepared to impose a new tax on our water. However, I am pleased that the Senate Budget Committee agreed with Senate Republicans to kill the water tax and use the budget surplus to make much-needed improvements to our water infrastructure,” said Senate Republican Leader Shannon Grove.
