Top Ten Worst Bills Governor Newsom Should Veto

  1. SB 81 (Skinner, 2021) – Reduces criminal sentences by requiring judges to dismiss, or strongly favor dismissing, sentencing enhancements for felony crimes, including gang and firearm enhancements among others. (Veto Letter Here)
  2. SB 775 (Becker, 2021) – Expands 2019’s SB 1437 by allowing people who murdered someone or tried to murder someone and took a plea deal to get resentenced, possibly resulting in a minimum sentence or no sentence at all. (Veto Letter Here)
